Notes from the office...

The Park Preschool will be closed on Monday, April 21st- Friday, April 25th-Spring Recess

Spring Cocktail Party…Spring is in the air and it is time to start planning a parent get-together. If you would be interested in hosting the spring cocktail party, please see Kevin or Ellen.

Summer Scamper '08 registration was sent home last month. If you are interested, complete the registration form and return with full payment. The Summer Scampers program is filled on a first come, first served basis. This summer we are offering an afternoon class 1-4pm!

ERB testing...If you are interested in having your child take the ERB test this fall, please see Ellen by April 18th. We need to get an estimated number of students to plan a date and time. If you have any questions about the ERB test or about ongoing schools, feel free to speak to Ellen.

Themes in the classrooms...

Amanda and Maria's class...We will be finishing our space unit with a papier mâché solar system. We will also begin our Leo Lionni author study. We will explore his art techniques in painting, sculpting, paper cutting and print work, as well as his reoccurring themes dealing with kindness, self-control and values.

Sara and Emmaline's class...AM class…Moving through the alphabet this month…letters K (Kites-Spring), L (lion masks) and M (If you Give a Moose a Muffin). Plus we will make a special muffin treat! We will also discuss our new season….spring!

PM class…On Thursday, April 10th will we celebrate the 100th DAY OF SCHOOL with many counting activities! We will also continue with our special person of the week (please check your child's cubby for details). Before our spring break we will have a fun pajama day with letter P.

Debra & Fotini's class...All About Me will be the theme this month. We will learn about what makes us similar and what makes us different! This will lead into our Special Person unit. Each child will be assigned a day where they will be able to share their favorite things with his/her classmates. We will also be continuing through the alphabet with letters M/N, O/P and Q/R!

Extended Afternoon class...Maria & Dianna's class… In Abril/April we will continue with el calendario, los días de la semana, y la estaciones/seasons. We will be reviewing las canciones/the songs we have just learned; "Hola", "Los Colores", "Como te llamas?"/What is your name?, Los Dias de la semana"/The Days of the Week., Los meses del ano/The Days of the week y "Musica." A list of the songs will be sent home.

What's Happening This Month...

Friday, April 4th…Sara and Emmaline's & Debra and Fotini's AM classes are going to the Marionette Theatre in Central Park. All details and information about volunteering to be a chaperone were in the permission slip that was sent home last week. All children enrolled in the AM class are invited to attend and must be at PPS at 9:00am.

Scholastic Books/Software Clubs…The latest Scholastic Book and Software Club order forms are in your child's cubby. If you are interested in ordering, complete each order form and return with payment (make checks payable to Scholastic Book Clubs) by Wednesday, April 16th. Monday, April 28th…Amanda and Maria's class is going to The Manhattan Children Theatre on White Street. A permission slip with all the details will be sent home later this month. All children in Amanda and Maria's class are invited to attend and must be at PPS by 9am.

Tuesday, April 29th… Sara and Emmaline's & Debra and Fotini's PM classes are invited to attend a puppet show presented by The Talking Hands Theatre. If your child does not attend the afternoon class on Tuesday, he/she is invited to attend the afternoon show from 2:00-3:00pm.
